Get free online storage, backup and file sharing with Windows Live OneDrive (previously known as SkyDrive). Now that many of us have PCs that are always connected to the internet, a whole host of new and exciting services are becoming available. Cloud storage, where your files are stored somewhere in the “cloud” (a buzzword that just means another computer on the internet) is one of the most useful of these new services. Having access to your files online can be very convenient, and also useful for sharing files or for backup.

In this video, we’ll give you a tour of the OneDrive features built into Windows 10. To complete this tutorial, you will need a Microsoft account. If you use services such as Outlook.com or Xbox you already have an account. If not, use this link to sign up for one.

Windows 8 users – Using OneDrive on Windows 8 is slightly different, see this tutorial for more information.

Windows 7 users – For a tutorial on using OneDrive on your PC, click this link.

Additional notes

Remember that if you access your OneDrive account from another PC that does not belong to you, such as a public computer, the computer could be deliberately infected with spyware. To combat this problem, use the single use logon code procedure documented here.
